Automation Engineer
In this job, the engineer is expected to work effectively with other engineering domains, such as mechanical, electrical, and IT, to solve cross domain problems that automate equipment, processes and business workflows related to the use of sensors, actuators, software, and IT infrastructure to accomplish a specific task. Automation engineers effectively employee expertise related to: Manufacturing Engineering and Software Control System Engineering. Successful Automation / Robotics Engineers have experience with a wide variety of automation components including motors, drives, sensors and vision systems. They have strong problem-solving skills and understand automated/mechanical systems, assembly lines realization, industrial robots, 2D/3D computer vision, machine learning, perception and sensing for robot guidance. They also have experience with selection, configuration, software development, and controls of automation including HMI’s, PLC, PC and embedded control systems. They understand DCS, SCADA, and automation communication networks and protocols.
Create intuitive human-machine interfaces using FactoryTalk ME and Ignition.
Develop database applications using Ignition and SQL for tracking downtime, performance, etc.
Program and debug ladder logic and structure text code on Allen-Bradley control Logix PLC.
Maintain and configure industrial ethernet network of automation devices as Robots, PLC, VFD, etc.
Program and debug Fanuc robot programs.
Manage and support automation projects that involve cross functional teams such as manufacturing, sustaining and IT teams.
Support senior technical team in the creation of a technical roadmap for manufacturing.
Experience/Qualifications:
BS / MS / PhD in Science or Engineering with software experience or education. MS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Experience in PLC Systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens and Beckhoff) and PLC programming is a plus.
Proficiency in reading detailed electrical schematics.
Experience in Human-Machine Interfaces (Ignition, FactoryTalk ME and Siemens WinCC )
Proficiency in at least one general purpose language (Python, C, C++, JavaScript, C#, Java, etc.)
Understanding of web technologies (API, database, server, etc.)
Hands-on experience in IT and industrial networks.
Working knowledge in communication protocols including TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, Serial, FTP, Modbus.
Experience in Robotic systems (Fanuc, Kuka, ABB) is a plus.
Expertise in industry standards for automation.
