Description

This is a Direct Hire position located in Downtown Houston. Some day travel to other client locations may be required.

Assist in dealing with direct and indirect tax matters with a strong emphasis on fixed assets in a highly complex organizational structure.
Contribute to a team responsible for performing tax compliance, tax accounting, and the creation and implementation of tax planning strategies.
Reporting to the Tax Manager, the candidate must be proactive and willing to learn along with a strong desire to be part of a developing tax department.
A successful candidate would be interested in professional growth and possess a willingness to speak-up by recommending and or suggesting process improvements.
Responsibilities
Responsible for asset reporting as required under Tangible Property Regulations for all assets (includes Capitalized Assets and Materials and Supplies) at a multi-billion dollar facility.
Assist in the accurate and timely filings of federal partnership returns and state income/franchise taxes.
Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with finance/accounting, procurement, commercial and legal as well as external stakeholders to ensure full understanding of information required for the proper application of complex tax rules and regulations affecting the company.
Assist in the development and implementation of approved tax strategies.
Assist with sales and use tax reporting and issuance of proper SUT certificates (largely focused on purchase of operating assets).
Provide support to ensure taxes are properly budgeted and forecasted for operational, financial and cash planning purposes.
Assist in the gathering of data for all tax audits.
Assist with preparation of accurate and timely accounting and reporting of income taxes in the financial records in compliance with internal controls.
Assist in responding to inquiries from the external auditor and Director of Financial Reporting with regards to questions on financial statement taxes during quarterly reviews, variance analysis, and year-end financial audits.
Handle day-to-day tax issues.
Assist in the creation and implementation of tax processes and procedures for tax compliance and reporting.
Minimum Required:
Master’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
Licensed CPA
5-7 years tax work experience
Highly Preferred:
Experience with taxation of partnerships.
